S3: E7 - THE CIPHER REWIND: Michael Olatuja - Your Pain Will Propel You Into Your Destiny

In this retrospective, we’re going right back to where it all started. We’re gonna play the very first episode of The Cipher - which was then called ‘DeCIPHERED.’ It’s a truly personal one. I talked to London-born, Lagos-raised bassist and composer, @MichaelOlatuja ..who is now based in the US!

He joined me to talk about his 2020 album, Lagos Pepper Soup and his expansive career in music. I shared this in our conversation, and Michael opened up about channeling his mother’s memory in everything from his music to his exploits in the kitchen. His words helped some of the deep pain I was feeling in that moment.

Looking at pain as a catalyst forces us all to face some harsh realities. To come face to face with those difficult emotions but continue to create as your outlet towards…your destiny [PAUSE] or at least something better than before.

Tap into The Cipher at thecipherpod.com - and give us a five-star rating while you're there!

We’ve got ONE MORE DIG INTO THE ARCHIVES FOR YA! AND it’s a good one! Tonya Mosley. The journalist and host of the award-winning podcast ‘Truth Be Told.’ See you soon!
