Fighting for the Life of Your Work

A WORD FROM THE HOST

Christabel Nsiah-Buadi

ALWAYS fight for the life of your creative work. It’s a twist on a lesson Nana-Ama Danquah shares on the show and one of the biggest takeaways I’ve learned from her over the years.

We first met in the aughts when she was a contributor on a radio show I supervised at NPR. Even then, she brought nothing but her ENTIRE self. That honesty unnerved me back then, and I tried my best not to show it. Today, I embrace it.

As a writer, coach, and creator, she pushes her students and peers to embrace the truth in their work, and not just because it’s good for the soul. Your audience will connect deeply to your work. If you cry at what you write, the chances are your audience will, too. Because, at the end of the day, we’re all human.
